A great arts opportunity for young and old to join our team this summer!

Kilometre of Sculpture (kmS) is an international outdoor exhibition that takes contemporary art out of the museum and into the public space. The exhibition is presented in Rakvere in northern Estonia every two years alongside the Baltoscandal Theatre Festival. In the intervening years kmS travels to other regional towns in Estonia as part of its promise to deliver a quality cultural event outside the capital, Tallinn.

This summer kmS will take place in Rakvere over three weeks from 2 – 24 July and will include a main exhibition and satellite program. The main exhibition includes artworks by 14 international artists selected by our guest curator, Anna Virtanen from Helsinki, and our satellite program is packed with smaller exhibitions from regional partners across Northern Europe, artist talks, guided tours, workshops and an interactive education program.

The main role of the volunteers will be to assist the artists in setting up their work and work with the organizing team to realise various aspects of this outdoor exhibition. During the exhibition the main tasks are to guide and inform visitors so that everyone can enjoy the exhibitions and events on offer. We offer a unique opportunity to support the work of internationally recognized artists, meet new friends and work together to make a truly memorable cultural experience for yourself and our visitors.

Volunteers will meet the kmS team and briefly get to know each other at our training day in mid-June, where everyone will also find out more about the details of volunteering for kmS. We are looking for volunteer support between 27 June and the 26 July, and during that period you can specify how many days you can offer your help from as little as 2 or 3 through to the entire 4-week period. During the entire volunteer experience, kmS will provide all accommodation, meals and transport.
