Kilometre of Sculpture (KoS) is an open air exhibition that provides a reliable and supportive framework for artists seeking new opportunities to exhibit their work. The town of Rakvere in northern Estonia hosts the exhibition every two years in conjunction with the Baltoscandal theatre festival, while different centres across regional Estonia will host the exhibition in the intervening years.
KoS presents works by artists from around the world and the Baltic Sea Region that explore the unique sites offered within the urban space and environs of its host city. It is a walking event that can be explored systematically with a start and finish, or episodically by strolling through the different settings over different days and at different times.
KoS adopts a mixed model involving a curated section and an open call to deliver a single cohesive exhibition under the guiding vision of our curator.
Artists interested in applying through the open call are encouraged to consider the host city, its history, natural surroundings, public urban space, heritage sites, the people of the city and the specific qualities of the sites of the exhibition itself.
For further information see our conditions of entry and curatorial principles.
